SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
CRADLE works to promote achievement of sustainable development comprising economic, social and environmental aspects. Our project interests include: sustainable development, promotion of technologies capable of leap-frogging sustainable development, socio-economic development management in developing regions. Others are organising events (conferences, seminars, and workshops), capacity building, engaging governments to implement sustainable energy at state, local and federal levels, formulating sustainable energy policy, implementation of sustainable energy technologies, assessing and comparatively analysing the efficiency of energy technologies, sustainable development.
CRADLE is working with the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) on genetic resources, traditional knowledge and folklore of the World Intellectual Property Organisation of the United Nations system towards improving resource management for sustainable development. We are currently leading national coalitions of civil society organizations working on electricity and environmental governance in Nigeria within the African region of these global coalitions.
SUMMARY OF CRADLE’S PROGRAMMES
Some of our sustainable development programmes include development and management of proposals and projects in the following areas:

Consulting with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other partners to develop spatial data infrastructure for the world

Contributing towards applications of remote sensing and geo-spatial information systems, science and technologies applications to sustainable development;

Climate change (assessment research, adaptations and related activities);

Leading civil society coalitions to implement the access initiative (TAI) and partnership principle (PP10)

Advocacy and campaigns for implementation of sustainable development;

Working with the United Nations Agencies and other partners to promote development through traditional knowledge, folklore, and genetic resources;

Natural resource management: capacity building for managing forest, wetlands etc.

Environmental Technologies applications advocacy, RD&D, policy and cognate issues

Health sector management including HIV / AIDS: Strengthening of capacity for controlling and mitigating the pandemic by FBOs, NGOs and public interest organizations and government agencies;

Livelihoods (promoting sustainable living, indigenous knowledge and intellectual property)

Educational infrastructure and resource analysis, planning and management.

Sustainable agriculture development programming and management.

Socio-economic growth catalysation (employment creation using Information and communications technologies: Development of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) or information technologies enhanced services (ITES) and cognate services.
